1771-1776  Henry Harford (ca. 1759-1834)  Harford did not succeed to the title when Frederick died on September 4, 1771, because Harford was his illegitimate son, but was bequeathed the province of Maryland in Frederick's will. After the Revolution, Harford relinquished his claim to Maryland in return for a monetary settlement from the British government.
