Placing Research and Copy Orders

Research Fees

Vital Records (Birth and Death Records)
Please see Vital Records Update $12.00 for a plain copy
$25.00 for a certified copy

General Research includes searching for court cases, divorces, marriage records, deeds, wills and other probate records, church records, etc.
The Archives only searches indexed records for legal purposes. The Archives does not offer genealogical research services. Please see the list of professional genealogists & researchers. $25.00 for a search of one name, in one index, and a plain copy of one document*
$35.00 for a search of one name, in one index, and a certified copy of one document*
Request must include:
full name, type of record, approximate date, and county.

* up to 20 pages; additional pages are $1.00 per page; lengthy documents may only be available in electronic form

Special Collections Director, MDIF, or other specialized research or consultation $50 per hour
Patrons will be notified when these fees apply
Special orders may entail surcharges to the fees below

Basic Copy Fees

Copies in the Search Room from microfilm reader printers $0.50 per page

Court cases with full citation. A full citation must have case number, full names, type of record, date, and county. $10.00 per document for a plain copy *
$20.00 per document for a certified copy *
* up to 20 pages; additional pages are $1.00 per page; lengthy documents may only be available on CD ROM

Other copies (wills, deeds, marriage records, church records, etc.) with full citations.

and folder number, date, and county. $10.00 per document for a plain copy*
$20.00 per document for a certified copy *

Xerox from secondary sources $0.50 per page, condition permitting

Shipping

Unless otherwise requested all orders will be shipped via first class mail for no additional charge. Counter pickup at the Archives is available. In addition, special shipping and handling can be arranged for an additional fee. Other arrangements through delivery services are available at market prices.

Terms

Please keep in mind that all copy and research fees are non-refundable, even if no information is found. However, we will mail you a report on the search and suggestions for further research. We will also determine what agency may hold the records you need and will advise, providing you with contact information.
Private individuals, law firms, businesses, etc., must pay in advance by check or with visa/mastercard/discover card.

The Archives offers 30 days net on orders from government agencies. Monthly or quarterly billing is available. For Government agencies interested in opening an account please call 410-260-6473 to speak to a service representative.
