Biography:

At the age of twenty-seven, Emma Chion successfully escaped from her master, Bushong Blake, with her husband, William.  After escaping, the couple changed their last name to "Williams" and may have changed their first names as well.  Though little has yet been recovered about her life after escape, Chion is known to have reached Philadelphia, PA, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad.
