Biography:

Susan Jane Boile fled Kent County, Maryland in 1857, where she was the slave of a farmer named Hezekiah Masten.  Masten resided in New Market, near Georgetown Crossroads, and was a Methodist.  Most likely, he was a member of the Kent Circuit Methodist Episcopal Church, which was active from 1833 until 1898.
