Accomplice to slave flight, Cecil County, Maryland 1857

Biography:

Sam Scott was a free black in Cecil County, Maryland.  In 1857, at the age of twenty-two, he successfully helped his slave wife, Anna, escape.  It is known that the couple reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad.  Their ultimate destination was Canada.
