Biography:

Samuel Turner fled Kent County, Maryland in 1857 with fellow slaves John Alexander, Sam Benton, and James Henry.  Though little has yet been recovered about his life after escape, Turner reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
