Biography:

Charles Henry Brown successfully escaped from Dorchester County, Maryland in 1855 at the age of twenty-seven.  He was owned by Dr. Richard Dorsey of Cambridge, Maryland. Though little information has been recovered about his life after his escape, Brown is known to have reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad
