Biography:

George Light was one of the twenty-eight slaves to escape from the Cambridge District of Dorchester County on October 24, 1857.  Though little is known about his life after escape, Light did reach Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
