Joshua (b. circa 1827)
MSA SC 5496-1522
Fled from slavery, Somerset County, Maryland, 1854

Biography:

A runaway from Ann W. Walter in 1854 appears to be a well appointed individual based on the physical appearance ascribed to him by his mistress. In addition to his height, "dark yellow complexion" and cut lip, it is worth noting Walters wrote "When he left he wore whiskers…" acknowledging the fact that Joshua might have shaved since his escape.
