Biography:

Henry Jones, a slave at Hampton Plantation, ran away from Hampton on Thursday, March 24, 1853.  Jones, a "light colored"¹ man, was about 5'8" or 5'9", and was about twenty-five years old when he ran away.  There was a runaway advertisement published for Henry Jones, and it read that he had "very thick lips and lean face"²  In that same advertisement, Charles Ridgely of Hampton put out a hundred dollar reward for the capture and return.
